Battle of the Sexes (2017): Film Review

Battle of The Sexes tells the amazing story of Billie Jean King's rise as a tennis icon, and the game that changed her life: the epic showdown between her at Bobby Riggs, known as the Battle of the Sexes. The film does a great job showing the story, and for the most part, its entertaining, but the film has a few flaws that impact the story greatly. Emma Stone and Steve Carell play their roles perfectly, with Emma Stone shining in her role as Billie Jean King. The film is a little slow in the beginning, but once it picks up, it gets very interesting. The major flaw of the film is: how slow it is at the beginning. In the two hour movie, one hour of it is setting up the plot, and the preparation and "battle of the sexes" is only 30 minutes of the film. The film gets tangled up in exposition, with too many plots happening at one time. It gets to the point where it's hard to keep track of everything that's going on. The film could have easily let go of some of its plots, but instead, it gets tangled up in a mess. But besides that, the film is pretty good. It's not setting milestones in the film industry, or breaking any records, but the film is good enough to keep the audience entertained.
